A History of Java

• The Java Programming language was  developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems in 1991.
• In 1995 the language  was release for the Web applications.
• This Language originally named ‘Oak’ later it was change as Java.
• Java is mostly suitable for  network  programming because  those programs can be access and executed on different computer platforms.

Features of Java

• Java is object oriented
• Java is plat -form  independent

A  particular hardware and system software configuration is called a plat form

Ex: Intel Pentium + windows 98

• Java programes can run on different plat form
